dora: searching family history

I am looking for any information regarding the family of Ferenc Toth born in budapest in 1924, mothers name was maria toth or marika toth, father was a high priest., maria apparently died by suicide drowning in the duna river, if i am not mistaken..... I do not know if her body was ever recovered nor do i know when this occurred. Any information regarding this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I do not know if this would help-My grandmother, Julia Toth from Mikohaza, married for the 2nd times to a Frenec Toth about 1926. She was a widow with 3 American-born children. On the way back to the US Frenec (Frank)got off the ship in Cuba. Because he was not allowed back on the boat, he stayed there for the next 10 years. He died there. There was one daughter from that union, Marta (Lesley) Toth.

Marlene Norton: Toth

My great grandfather was Nicholas TOTH. I believe he was born in Zombor in 1855. His parents were Johann TOTH and Magdelena SZEGHI. Nicholas married Victoria KARASZ in 1881 in Hodschag. They had several children in Hodschag then moved to Uj Palanka. Nicholas died in Palanka in 1940. He was a shepherd. A family story said people brought sick animals so I guess he was sort of the local vet.

Nicholas and Victoria had ten children that I know of. I would like to find information on any of them. My grandmother, Katalin, mentioned sisters but never brothers. However there were sons - Michael, Antonius,Stefan and Nicholas. I am assuming they died before the time I remember her talking about sisters. Daughters were Katalin, Victoria, Magdelena, Maria, Elizabeth and Eva.

One of Nicholas' brothers, Franciscus, married Erzebet FARKAS. Other brothers were Michael and Martin. One of Victoria's sisters, Elizabeth KARASZ married Michael FEKETE.

I have a photo taken in 1931 in Uj Palanka of a cousin -- a bride and groom named Leuca and Rosa but don't know either surname and I don't know which was the relative. I have a photo of Treska Papp, also a cousin. One daughter married someone name RACZ.

Im searching for more info on my Nana. She's still alive but doesn't recall much about her life there. She was born Sept 4, 1935 in Alsonemedi, Hungary. She married Lazlo Fodor (?spelling?) Jan 10, 1957. He was born Aug 19, 1933 in Hungary as well. She lives in Canada, but is unsure when she came here.

Ez a család testimonialist kapott Veszprém vármegyétöl,(1843 május 1) Tóth de Csögle Lajos és fia Gyula részére.

Érdekes módon a címerük (1587 december) mint azt Nagy Iván is észrevette már, nagyon hasonlít az 1609-es Török-féle címerhez (mind a kettö oroszlán egy hármas liliommal)! A Török-címert pedig egy T. Miklós <és testvére Tóth Ferenc> kapták. Érdekelne, hogy van-e itt kapcsolat, pld. újított címer, stb.?

I'm still trying to find out about my ancestry, my mother Erzsebet Banko, born to Erzsebet Kokai and Janos Banko in 1927, known towns, Hatvan and Jarszarokszallas..
My father Ferenc Toth, born to Maria Toth, his fathers name unknown, i was only told that he was some sort of high priest and that his mother was in a place for young women when he was conceived..he was born in Budapest.
My parents fled Hungary together in 1956 with a 2 month old baby Tomas and ended up in the UK,where they had 3 more children together, myself, Jimmy and Peter and in 1973 my parents packed the family up and left the UK to come to Canada, where they settled in Montreal, Quebec,
I am more interested in trying to trace my fathers roots, although he always claimed to be an only child, im not certain of that, i would like to know more of who his father was as well and more of his mother and what ever became of her.
Any info would be greatly appreciated

Egyik õsöm Tóth Rozália volt, aki Nemesdömölkön (Vas vm.) 1876-ban született és Budapesten 1912-ben hunyt el tüdõgyulladásban, férje Leichtag Ármin volt (1874-1926). Nekik volt két leányuk: Gizella és Margit. Rozália szülei: Tóth József és Kovács Mária - feltehetõleg nemesdömölkiek (ma Celldömölk). Ha valaki bármit tud ehhez fûzni, szívesen venném.

One of my ancestors was Tóth Rozália, who was born in 1876, Nemesdömölk (Vas county), and died in Budapest, 1912 in pneumonia. Ármin Leichtag (1874-1926) was her spouse. They had two daughters: Gizella and Margit. Rozalia's parents were József (Joseph) Tóth and Mária (Mary) Kovács. May be, they lived in Nemesdömölk, in our time Celldömölk is the used name of this city. If somebody could give anything news about them, or their relatives, I would be happy.

Igaz hogy én nem Kádár lettem mert anyám Kádár nem apám de üknagyszüleim. Tehát nagyapám anyukája és apukája volt!
De a vérrel örököltem én is egy kicsitt anyám felöl ezt a veszett Kádár vért!Borosjenõi Kádár Gáspárnak 3 gyereke lett ÉN ugy tudom hogy 3 de nem biztos!1 lány 2 fiu köztük nagyapám!
Na csak enyitt akkartam mert nézegetem itt neten a Borosjenõi Kádár kutatásokat de errõl a család ágról nem volt semmi és végre itt olvastam hogy van!

Can you please help me? I am just starting my genealogy research into my Hungarian branch of the family.

My Toth family member was Mary Barbara Toth (Maria Borbola Toth) - daughter of Joseph Toth and Barbara Nemeth Toth (Borbola Nemeth Toth) - of Mezokovesd, Hungary. Joseph and Barbara Toth had 2 children: Mary Barbara and Joseph.

Mary Barbara Toth was married to Matyas Racz (born March 8, 1870 and died December 1, 1935), a farmer. I believe they were married in 1894. They were both from Mezokovesd, Hungary. He emigrated to the United States boarding the sailing ship Columbia, which departed from Hamburg, Germany, on April 23, 1902. He arrived at Ellis Island New York on May 3, 1902 with a travel destination of 3 Walnut Street, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. He traveled with several other men, all going to the same address to see a "friend" - Adam??? who probably recruited the Hungarians to work at the iron and steel mills in Pennsylvania. Matyas, who is shown on family records with the spelling Mathias, later moved to Ohio, probably to work for what is now US Steel, where many of his descendents still live.

I'm not sure if his wife, May Barbara, emigrated with him at the same time or later. They are said to have left several children behing in Hungary. The remaining children were born in Pennsylvania and Ohio - my grandmother, Mary Ann Racz, among them.

I am attaching a picture of Barbara Nemeth Toth with her son, Joseph Toth and his family - taken in Hungary.

Any info you can give me, either on my relatives (possibly yours) or how to conduct research about people in Hungary, will be gratefully appreciated - Nancy Upham

Pepi: Tiszavárkonyszõlõ Tóth család

A Tiszavárkonyszõlõn élt Tóth családról szeretnék információkat szerezni.
Amit tudok:
Tóth István született 1904ben Tiszavárkonyszõlõn.Pesterzsébeten halt meg 1970 ben.A család ezen leszármazásának vagyok tagja.
Tóth Istvánnak a testvérei voltak: János,Béla,Jolán (Pucker Jánosné),Veronka, Béni, Sándor.
Ha valaki bármi információval tudna segíteni ezzel a családdal kapcsolatban, nagyon megköszönném.

Keresem Tóth Gábor (? vagy nem Gábor) és Szabó Erzsébet leszármazottait Hajdúhadházról.Erzsébet 1961-62-ben halt meg.
Tóth G. az elsõ világháborúban odaveszett, Gábor nevû fia az édesanyjával, Erzsébettel maradt. Gábornak 3 lánya született, a felesége nem tudom ki volt.
Lányai: Zsuzsi a debreceni Kodály Lórusban zenélt, nem tudom, hogy hobbiból, vagy a szakmája volt. Szerintem 70-75 éves lehet most.
A legidõsebb, Erzsike a 60-as években Kiskunhalasra ment férjhez, egy katonatiszthez. Juliskáról nem tudok semmit.
Én Szabó Erzsébetnek egy házasságon kívül, még Gábor elõtt született fiának az unokája vagyok, õt Szabó Károlynak hívták.
Minden információ érdekelne.

Történetem a következõ:Keresem az Erdei nevûeket Hajdúhadház településen.Dédnagyapám szülei(Erdei Gábor),akik a Heves megyei Maklárról származnak 1863-ban telepedtek le Hajdúhadházán.Dédnagyapám egyik fia 1902-ben látogatta meg õket a családi hagyomány szerint.Az,hogy mi történt azóta a család ezen ágával,semmi információ nincs.Aki tud segíteni ezzel kapcsolatban,kérem írjon.Kiss Lajos tunderlala48 -a-t- citromail -d-o-t- hu

I am reasearching my great-great grandparents, Gabriel and Katalin Toth, who immigrated to the United states from Tiszakeszi, Hungary probably around 1900 (defanitly before 1908 when their first child Julia Toth Potter (1908-2000) was born in Star Junction, Pennsilvannia.

Gabriel and Katalin lived most their lives in Chicago and owned a hotel. Gabriel was born in approximately 1887 and he died in the 3rd of october 1942. His parents are listed at Stephen (Istvan?) Toth and Susan Toth both lsited as being from Tiszakeszi. Katalin was born in approximaely 1882 and died in the 13th of June 1947. Her parents are listed as Alex Toth and Mary Hemlik (no location given).

I am looking for any additional information on my Relatives from Tiszakeszi, perhaps you know Gabriel and Katalin's parents and can give me much more information on them. Many thanks! I am looking to get much more in touch with my hungarian roots than I am now, which is just that my great grandmother taught me how to make great chicken paprikash!

Én reasearching az én nagy-nagy nagyszülõk, Gabriel és Tóth Katalin, aki emigrált az Egyesült Államokba Tiszakeszi, Magyarország valószínûleg 1900 körül (defanitly elõtt 1908 elsõ gyermekük Julia Tóth Potter (1908-2000) született a Star Junction, Pennsilvannia .

Gabriel és Katalin élt legnagyobb életüket Chicago és volt egy szállodában. Gabriel született körülbelül 1887-ben halt meg október 3-án 1942. szülei felsorolt István (István?) Tóth és Tóth Susan mind lsited mint a Tiszakeszi. Katalin született approximaely 1882-ben halt meg június 13-1947-ben. szülei szerepelnek, mint Alex Toth és Mary Hemlik (nincs helye adott).

Keresek minden olyan további információt az én Rokonok a Tiszakeszi, talán tudod, Gabriel és Katalin szülei és tud adni nekem sokkal több információt. Sok köszönet! Én keresem, hogy sokkal jobban ismerik a magyar gyökerekkel, mint én most, ami csak az, hogy én nagy nagymamám tanított meg, hogy nagy csirke paprikás!
